Grand Welcome Ceremony and Long Life Initiation

A grand celebration to welcome His Holiness’ arrival in the United States will be held on Sunday, March 30 at Tsechen Kunchab Ling. All of His Holiness’ students and friends are encouraged to attend this festive event. In the afternoon, His Holiness will bestow a long-life initiation to the gathering. Free and open to the public.


Teachings on Drogon Chogyal Phagpa’s Gift of Dharma to Kublai Khan

Tuesday, April 1 – Thursday, April 3

“A Gift of Dharma to Kublai Khan” was written by Drogon Chogyal Phagpa, (1235-1280) who was the fifth of the five great founders of the Sakya Order, and an ancestor of His Holiness the Sakya Trizin. Kublai Khan was the Mongol Emperor of China. While Chogyal Phagpa lived at Kublai Khan’s court in China, Kublai Khan requested Drogon Chogyal Phagpa to compose and teach him this work. It has become a great classic teaching, explaining the Mahayana path with a special emphasis on the nature of mind and reality. Free and open to the public. Offerings gratefully accepted.


Extensive and Rare Cycle of Vajrayogini Initiations, Blessings, and Teachings

Don’t miss this very special Vajrayogini teaching cycle during which His Holiness will bestow several rare initiations in addition to the complete teaching of the Eleven Yogas of Vajrayogini. This rare chance to receive these special initiations is generating great excitement among both beginning and experienced Vajrayogini practitioners. The program of initiations and teachings includes:

  • Virupa tradition Two-day Vajrayogini major empowerment
  • Indra Tradition Vajrayogini blessing from the Thirteen Golden Dharmas
  • Maitri Tradition Vajrayogini blessing from the Thirteen Golden Dharmas
  • Uchedma Vajrayogini blessing from the Virupa tradition
  • Naropa Tradition Vajrayogini blessing from the Thirteen Golden Dharmas
  • Vajrayogini teaching cycle based on the eleven yogas of Naropa
  • Additional special related teachings and transmissions including Dharmata Blessing, Mantra Blessing, and Shmashana Adhipati blessings.

No prerequisite – all necessary empowerments will be given during the teaching cycle. Participation in the teaching cycle carries the commitment of performing a daily Vajrayogini practice.

Dedication of the Tibetan and Himalayan Cultural Center at Tsechen Kunchab Ling

The Tibetan and Himalayan Cultural Center at Tsechen Kunchab Ling is dedicated to His Holiness’ Dalai Lama and His Holiness Sakya Trizin’s goal of preserving the unique religion and culture of Tibet and neighboring Himalayan regions. It provides a place for Tibetan and Himalayan people to celebrate cultural events and to transmit their unique culture to the next generation of children growing up in the United States, and to explain their culture to Americans.

During the dedication, His Holiness will dedicate three major new additions to the Cultural Center: Cultural event rooms with displays showcasing various ethnic cultures, a research library of works in the Tibetan, English, and Chinese languages, and an outdoor candle shrine as a traditional location for prayers, offerings of light, and cultural activities.
